Fight Club

Fight Club includes all our martial artists, whatever their specializations – it is a club of fighters. What they share in common is a dedication to learning to apply bodily force practically and efficiently, whether for the cage, ring, or street. Our highly experienced instructors teach students to combine a highly-tuned science of technique with the raw intensity of violence.

    • The Art of Fighting

Do Jung Ishu – "The Art of Fighting"

Do Jung Ishu (Mandarin Chinese for "The Art of Fighting") provides fighters with a "style–less style," unburdened by tradition or useless techniques and absorbed in a high-intensity environment that incorporates a great deal of live drills and sparring. Inspired by the philosophies of Jeet Kune Do, DJI takes the effective elements of various martial arts (Wing Chun sticky hands, TKD and Tang Soo Do kicks, boxing punches, fencing footwork, savate low-line kicks, Judo throws, Muay Thai elbows and knees, and so forth) and modifies them so that they are realistic, utterly efficient, and full–contact. That sort of adaptation informs all of DJI – adaptation of each technique to each student, adaptation of each class to each group of students, and adaptation of each fighter to each opponent. The ultimate goal is to be able to apply one's fighting skills in moment–to–moment adaptations within a fight. Few reach that point, but those that do understand the freedom of true fighting in a way that stylists never can.

    • Groundwise

      GroundWise

Fight Club GroundWise encompasses all aspects of fighting at extremely close range: grappling, throwing, and clinching, getting to the ground, getting off the ground, what to do when you get there, and how to never get there in the first place. In keeping with the FC principle of efficient application of force, GroundWise tends towards striking from the ground, but submissions are by no means neglected. In keeping with the FC principle of practical application, live rolling and MMA sparring are key components of the program, taking up to half of each class.
